Plastic can take hundreds of years to degrade. Often, they get smaller and smaller until they become microplastics, which are now everywhere. It is very harmful to marine life, contaminates our food, and pollutes our oceans.
There are currently an estimated 75-199 million tons of plastics in our oceans. That’s why we partnered with trusted and certified organizations like Plastic Fischer, Plastic Bank, Oceans Integrity, See Turtles, and others to help clean the ocean and prevent more plastic from reaching open waters.
Our partners work with local river and coastal communities, giving them incentives or hiring them to help collect plastic or build swimming barriers. Plastic is then sorted and recycled. Our partners' efforts cover inland collection to prevent plastics from reaching ocean-bound rivers, coastal beaches, and river cleanups, as well as ocean clean up efforts.
